Devils Oven Island
About
Devils Oven Island is a small island in the Town of Alexandria, Jefferson County, New York. It covers about 0.08 hectares (0.20 acres), with 0.1 km (0.1 mi) of shoreline.
The cave on the island has its entrance in plain sight of Alexandria Bay. Nineteenth-century writers said the Canadian-born patriot Bill Johnston hid in it in 1838, but a Thousand Islands Life article calls that story a myth.
