Friendly Island
About
Friendly Island, also known as "Dewey", is an island in the Town of Alexandria, Jefferson County, New York, west of Alexandria Bay and south (upriver) of St. Elmo Island. It covers about 0.8 hectares (2.0 acres), with 0.4 km (0.2 mi) of shoreline, and rises to 86 m (282 ft) above sea level. Edward Dewey and his family bought the island in the early 1880s and built a large house there.
