Cole Shoal
About
Cole Shoal is a shoal off the Canadian mainland, west of Brich Point (of US mainland), in the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley, United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. The name was adopted in 1952.
The Cole Shoal Lighthouse, known as the Five Mile Light, stood on the shoal west of Brockville. It was built in 1856, and its first keeper, Richard Elliott, served until 1882. The light was decommissioned in 1927. Lightning struck it on July 23, 2018, and it burned to the water line.
